About Me
This picture was taken more than two decades ago, early in my nursing career. Over the course of my 27 years as a Registered Nurse, I have been incredibly fortunate to learn from many great teachers. My mentors have shared not only their knowledge and wisdom in critical care, emergency nursing, post-operative care, postpartum, mother-baby care, and more, but also their immense compassion and companionship during times of uncertainty. My teachers have also included people I deeply admire in the field of lactation, whose dedication and expertise continue to inspire my work.
My passion for supporting families with breastfeeding stems from my own struggles with breastfeeding my two children. I experienced firsthand the challenges of a lack of information and education, which has driven me to ensure that others do not face the same obstacles alone.
I have also learned a great deal from the families I’ve had the privilege to serve. My goal is to share with you the wisdom, strength, and compassion that I have received when I needed it most. I am deeply passionate about evidence-based care, and in the past two years alone, I have completed over 130 hours of continuing education. Currently, I am taking a two-year course designed to prepare physicians to become board-certified in breastfeeding medicine, which further enhances my ability to support you. I can also refer for telemedicine consultations and individual appointments for any needs that may fall outside of my scope of practice, such as those requiring a medical work-up or prescription medications.
Throughout my career, I have supported families with premature babies, term babies, and multiples. I have assisted lactating parents with challenges like low milk supply, tongue tie, engorgement, oversupply, and breastfeeding through toddlerhood. Every family's experience is unique, and I am here to understand your needs and support you every step of the way.
I believe no one should struggle alone on their feeding journey. When cost is a barrier, I am happy to work with you on a sliding scale to ensure that support is accessible.
When I’m not helping new families on their feeding journeys, I enjoy long walks and hikes with friends, cooking for my family, and losing myself in a good book.
I look forward to working with you,
Ana Grantham RN, IBCLC
